I've been having some problems connecting to a certain site. I know that the site is not down because I have accessed it through another computer and it worked fine. Sometimes I can connect to the site, at other times I can't. However, through all of this I can still access a subdomain of the site even if I can't access the main page. I also know it has nothing to do with IE7 because I've tried with Firefox and the same thing happens.

Can anyone shed some light on this frustrating problem?

Do you get any error messages or just unable to connect?
There's a good chance the sub-domain is not on the same
server as the main page.
If you can reach every other site except that one I would guess
that they are having issues with the server.

But they aren't having server issues, because using another computer to connect to the site and it works. So it has to be something with the computer or something.

Just a wild guess but it could be your security settings.

Security settings, I don't believe I've changed anything because it started happening yesterday, a couple of weeks after a clean install. What should I check to see, I also could check and see if avast! has anything to do with it.

Anyone?

I forgot one thing, every once in a while the site loads and I can use it normally, then all of the sudden if becomes unreachable again. Does this sound familar?

I've come up with a theory. When I go to Network Connections, it has two items, one under 'Internet Connections' and the other under LAN networks. I think I might have accidentally selected the wrong item when I installed XP, selecting direct connection to Internet instead of through a LAN, it is possible to reverse this and remove that direct connection and connected through the LAN? I feel this might be the problem.
