hey, having quite a bit of trouble with my laptop. every time i boot in normal mode within a few minutes i get the blue screen of death error.
I have it up right now:
A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR
If this is the frist time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:
Check to make sure ............ blah blah blah
If problems continue................... blah blah
Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x0000007A (0xC0427C60, 0xC000003C, 0x1B2EE860, 0x84F8CEAF)
*** Ntfs.sys - Address 84F8CEAF base at 84EBF000, DateStamp 4549aceb
Collecting data for crash dump ...
Initializing disk for crash dump ...
Physical memory dump FAILED with status 0xC0000185.

some other info that might help:
the above error is actually DIFFERENT than one I was receiving earlier; the "Ntfs.sys - ...." part instead had "partmgr.sys"
now, i've been googling this issue for a few days now and i've read that if a faulty driver is to blame, you can boot in Safe Mode with Command Prompt and rename the faulty driver. i followed directions on doing that today and, although logged on as administrator, the response from the prompt was "Access is denied." But the fact that that particular driver no longer shows up on the BSOD error, I'm thinking that may have fixed it?
another thing i tried was resetting the BIOS. that actually does seem to rid the computer of the BSOD but the visual appearance of the taskbar is altered and not preferably.
