Test and see if your computer will be able to run XP:

Windows XP Advisor (will inform you if Win XP will be able to be installed on your computer)

Where did you get the info that there were two bad sectors.

If I understand it correctly, that means your hard drive is about to take a dump.

If that's the case - get a new HD and do a clean install of XP (providing that your motherboard and peripherals will work with XP)

Enthusiast> i am aware of the two bad sectors on the hard disk, it has been like that for a while, i have returned my hard disk several times and have been issued a new one each time (under warranty) and they all die, this time the bad sectors were patched at a repair shop for some reason and returned to me... it seems to work fine... should i send it back again? ideally i would like a new hard disk but coz of warranty i end up with same bodgy model each time... also i have alredy run the xp compatibilty test and appart from a few minor conflict with minor programs it said i would be able to install xp. i am just shoppoing for some SD ram to get more ram need for xp (i currently have 128mb..)

thanx agen

Grinler works in mysterious ways smile.gif

My vote is to move your stuff and go for it. Install XP and see how it works with the Ram you have. If its too slow for your liking then add more Ram or go back to ME. As far as the bad sectors go, XP will mark them during the install. Do you know what partition they are in? To me thats a non-issue.

ok well im bout half way thro moving stuff.. its taking time coz im alwayz at work or out n stuff so by monday hopefull should be done. the bad sectors are on the d: drive i think that was one of the reasons why i had 2 partitions to seperate the bad sectors from the c: drive, n i didnt have ne data at all on the d drive in case it was faulty.. thats why so much was on c: drive n i was running out of space... but it seems to be fine , everyting is working that is on d drive so im not too worried bout that. okay i will try to install xp asap n see if i have enough ram or not for it to run satisfactory. wish me luck!! lol thank u again!!

Now i gotta find the thread I meant to ask that in. I removed your startup list from the topic to save clutter.
