The 3 most common Vista troubleshooting tools are:
1) Go to Start and type "perfmon /report" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Let the report run, and then let us know about any of the items that are noted down to the Software Configuration heading. 2) Go to Start and type "perfmon" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Click on the Reliability Monitor in the left hand pane, and look for the errors in the right hand pane - let us know what they say. If there's too many, just use the last few days. 3) Go to Start and type "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter. In the left hand pane, click on Windows Logs, then click on the System log files - then check in the right hand pane for errors around the time of the shutdown. You can also check the Application log file for errors in case this generated an error that could have caused this (but it's less likely than the System log files). -------------------- - John
