Hi. i just joined this forum and hope i don't need help from here in the future.

I just wanted to tell everyone to chin up if you get avirus, all you need is the search engines and common sense.

I got a malware something last week and I had no C or D drive in My Computer...All programs, control panel, runa dn search were gone from the Start section...Spider solitare was gone (that's was the only thing my wife was P O'ed about, hehehe) and I got major pop ups and phony scans telling me it found 100's of virus's and i need to donload their software. i ran a full virus scan with my old norton, but it only found cookies so I called Dell and they did a Gotoassist and helped with somethings but eventually said I need to buy a new Norton and a spy sweeper...$98 bucks. It arrives 4 days later and I install it. the pop ups have gone away, but the desktop is still a HUGE red link from PCCleaner...and my taskbar says Virus Alert!, C & D are still gone and there are many small changes in control panel, Aaaaghh!

I call Dell again and they check it out and eventually say I need to go to Dell One Stop. Dell One Stop tells me they can fix it all. For $139. So I thanked them and started typing in my problems one at a time in Yahoo Search and fours hours later I have them all licked except one. I still can't find a solution to the Virus Alert! in my taskbar. I refuse to download another program so i am searching for someone who knows what I can change in the registry for it.

FYI- I clicked on something originally called PornTube, and I thought it was YouTube...I think that is where I got the mess from in the first place...hahaha I know I got the mess from PornTube.

Anyeay, thanks for letting me vent

It takes a LOT of training and studying to know how to remove malware. A lot of it is google but that is not it. You need to know how to deal with registry entries (that is dangerous if you don't know how), how to remove using different tools and much, much more. I do NOT recommend trying to remove malware without the help of a trained expert.

I recommend you take a look at this and start a new topic in the HijackThis logs and Malware Removal forum.

Regards,
Adam
