ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Any posts containing CF Logs will be ignored.
To receive help, you should instead provide a detailed description of your problem, detailed word-for-word error messages that you are receiving, screenshots of strange behaviour, and your operating system. This information is much more useful to our helpers than a ComboFix log.

I was hoping that you could help me with my computer problem. Well, I use firefox browser, but I keep getting internet explorer pop ups.. by the name of CID... I tried using combofix, but then got scared that I might lose all my documents, so thought I'd ask fix, before I mess up my computer. I was thinking of uninstalling internet explorer using CCleaner but I don't see it listed in the window that shows you all the programs installed on your computer. So, I would greatly appreciate your help in fixing my computer. Thankyou. P.S. the OS is windows xp, the antivirus software I'm using is the free edition of McAfee that comes with AOL. -M This post has been edited by garmanma: Jul 18 2008, 05:52 PM

Hi and welcome. We've a couple points here. ComboFix is a tool that should only be run under the supervision of someone who has been trained in its use. Using it on your own can cause problems with your computer. Glad you held off.
Next, McAfee is a program that doesn't play nice with other malware tools. You may want to uninstall and select another free one. Remind me for a list ,if you go there. But for now at least turn it off after updating and prior to runnung this scan. Turn back on after. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop. alternate download link 1 alternate download link 2
