Hi all,

I have a CD-R full of pics which, for some reason, won't play at all. It says there is a hardware error. All my other discs work fine.

Is there any way I could recover the data? I've tried copying it and everything, and polishing the disc, but it says no.
It says there is a "cyclic redundancy check".

Some of the pics were on my hard drive actually - is there any way that they could be recoverable?

Thanks all,

Ally

Hello Ally,

I use http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/cd-recovery.html to recover files of damaged disks.
Regards,

Alan.

uhm, have you tried the disc in another computer? I would take hardware error to mean that its the disc drive that is at fault.

Yes, I've tried it in three other computers. No luck!

Still attempting the CD-checker but nothing seems to be happening.

I'll keep trying!

I just wanted to let everyone know that I've fixed it. Thanks for setting me on the right track.

In case anyone else has a similar problem, I used this:

http://www.download.com/inDisc-Recovery/30...cdlPid=10540300

Worked a treat, but then the disc stuffed up again. But I'd saved my pics by then!
