Too Slow Outlook 2003 Starting

I have a 1 G RAM, Xp Pro, pentiumIII/700, enough space. I have cleaned my PC through the most known an effective applications. Outloook 2003 takes a lot of time to start, so AVG 8 updating is almost a joke (one hour). Please give me some advice at this respect. I have re installed outlook 2003 several times.
