Alright, I'm a brand new user, because I'm having some difficulties with my rig. I have an Antec 900 case, antec TPQ-850 850W ATX12V PSU, Gigabyte S-Series GA-MA78GM-S2H Motherboard, 4 gig x 2 sticks DDR2 ram, AMD AM2+ 5600 socket Dual Core processor, Seagate 500gb HDD, Nvidia 9800gtx GPU. My problem is that my rig WILL NOT START. I turn it on, and all my case fans turn on, my CPU fan turns on, but I get no posting beeps, and I have no video. At first I thought the problem was my motherboard, and the one in my box right now is a different motherboard than my first try (first one was a Gigabyte GA-MA790FX-dq6) because the new mobo has onboard video, eliminating the variable of my GPU being dead. I tried an older working 8800 and that failed as well, so I determined it was a Motherboard issue. Now that I am on my second motherboard and still no posting, I don't know what else it could be, aside from another dead motherboard or a dead CPU. Please help!

Welcome to bleepingcomputer!

First of all, did you remember to put the copper stand-offs between the motherboard and case? Also, check all your connection, especially the 4 or 8-pin cpu power connector.

If that is all correct, I have reason to believe it is a ram problem. Try it with another system. Take the ram out and try to start the computer, and it should appear to turn on, but it won't post . You have two sticks of 4gb ram? Can you tell us what the specific type of ram is, including model number and type?

I have the copper spacers installed, I have 4 GB of apacer UNB PC2-6400 CL5 (2x2GB) RAM. I think that the ram is the problem, I just got cheap stuff to get up and running, and I think I'm paying for that now.

Do you have the RAM modules populated properly?

I agree, check the slot placement of the ram, and double check the sockets one may have become dislodged.
