You seem to have some duplications here. Several Mobos and PS. You mentioned the HD w/mobo & CPU and your case seems to have a PS and you're getting another one. Other than that it looks pretty basic and I don't see any real problems but I didn't check the specs of the parts but I think you could get a little more for your money. Have you checked the build to suit on Tiger? I got one and I'm very happy with it, I don't think I could have built it for less and I love the 2 year on-site warranty.
Pick a: Mother board (MoBo) Case PS (if the case doesn't have one) Mem (2G is good, 4 is a llittle better) HDD (320 to 500G is good, anything over 1T is a waste (my opinion) unless you're doing a RAID config.) Video card (if MoBo doesn't have one, I like the ones that do) CD/DVD (use existing where possible) That's it, build it and enjoy. Yea the first two is a combo, i meant to include the Mobo and CPU as one. The Case and the Power Supply is something I can't decide on, whether to get the case with a built in power supply or buy them seperately. What do you mean "checked the build to suit on tiger"? Do you mean check the prices on tigerdirect instead of Newegg? Thanks. |

Buy a new power supply. That one you found there for $55 looks like a great deal. You'll even be able to crossfire two 4850's with it (but you'll probably be pushing the limits of how much your power supply can handle) if you wanted to.
I don't know if you'd be interested in this, but I heard that the 3850, 3870, 4850, and the 4870 are able to be crossfired in any combination of the four. Normally you can only use the same type together, but apparently they all use the same driver, and would work fine together. This isn't supported by ATI though, and I'm not to sure of how well it works. Anyway, you should look into getting a small tube of arctic silver 5 thermal paste for your cpu. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16835100007 . This stuff works very well. Clean off the stuff that already comes with your processor. Everything looks pretty good to me. If you wanted to save money, you could probably get some cheaper ram, but that's up to you. You could use cheaper 1066mhz ram or even cheaper 800mhz ram. Then again, it's up to you. --------------------  |

All the stuff will fit in the case and the mobo is compatible with the ram? Those are the things I'm most worried about, I've only upgraded my premade computer, never made anything from scratch before and I would probably freak out if I found out I bought something that I wasn't supposed to. I'm just about ready to pull the trigger on the stuff but I wanted someone to give it a once over just to make sure. |

Yes, it all looks fine to me. One thing I noticed is that you didn't put down an operating system. I assume you already have a disc you're going to use?
Just a few tips for building it: It's usually easier to put everything you can in the motherboard before putting the motherboard into the case. Don't forget to put the copper standoffs between the case and motherboard. Make sure the cpu heatsink and fan are on securely. Double check that all your connections are secure also. I actually changed my build up a bit. I cheaped out in a few places(namely CPU cooler and PSU) and got decent deals in others. I was planning on spending around 700 but I got really frustrated trying to keep a budget and figured I could spend another 200. I have this list on my computer, so I'm including my mistake(I was a hurry and I accidently ordered the wrong CPU, Newegg waived the restocking fee and all I gotta do is send it back to them for a refund).
