I have recently discovered My computer is having troubles with web pages as they are not appearing properly eg

www.argos.co.uk wont open as it says "This website is best viewed with JavaScript enabled.
It appears that either your browser doesn’t support JavaScript or it has been turned off." I followed the onscreen instructions to rectify this buut my settings were already correct

www.autotrader.co.uk will not display any pictures of cars and drop down menus are blank

www.iammoving.com - when clicking on a link the mouse doesnt show the right picture of the hand to follow a link, this did work originally a week ago.

I therfor tried to use system restore but when i double clicked it, a blank white screen appeared and did not load even after waiting 10 minutes.

with regards to system restore i have right clicked my computer and unclicked the system restore box then rebooted and unchecked the box again but still have the same problem

please help

I did have the same problem 1 month ago and reformatted my computer which the problem dissapeared but i dont want to do this again every month.

Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

Have you tried using a different browser? http://www.mozilla-europe.org/en/firefox/ If the problem still persists using a different browser then there is a system fault.

To access the System Restore are you going to Start> Accessories> System Tools> System Restore?

When you click on System Restore it doesn't open?

If this is the case, then try the information that Microsoft has here.

It sounds like a system problem, what service pack are you using?

Also try the System File Checker by going to start then run type sfc /scannow This will repair damaged system files.
