Microsoft and "free" do not go in the same sentence.
I found VB6 on amazon from $199-$629.
You might find it cheaper with a google search since .NET is out now.

No sir..if you download it it is not a valid source.
The only downloadable version is below:
http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/vbasic/default.aspx
It's a trial version...so you can't save executables,but you can program
the night away.
Oh and be sure to see the readme file:

That download is strictly for evaluation.
I personally use VB6 when i want to write a Winodws program
and have no intention of upgrading.
I was given the Visual Studio Enterprise Edition from a friend
who won it at some computer thing and he's not a programmer.
I'm sure there's a lot more functionality in the new version, but i'll stick with what i have.

The first language I learned when I started programming was VB6, which was mainly because my father got it for me (ahh, the benefits of being a Microsoft employee  ). I've never used .NET and don't really plan on it - I personally like 6 and am pretty closeminded to the topic :flowers:

I noticed you are not keen on ebay. I bought the deluxe learning edition of VB6 on ebay for an extremely reasonable amount. If you keep at it, you will find a good version at a good price.
