BleepingComputer.com: Ms Excel Repair Tool

Hi Everyone,

Can someone help me repair my corrupted excel file. I searched for repair tools but I can't find a freeware one. Could somenone help find a solution for this problem?

I've tried all this stuff but nothing happened.

The exact error is: "filename.xls cannot be accessed. The file may be read-only, or you may be trying to access a read-only location. Or, the server document is stored on may not be responding.".

Are you able to find the file on your drive or wherever you expect it on the server(if any)?
If you can actually see the file, right click on it. Do Properties say 'Read only" ?
If yes, you might be able to change it.
But if the file is not read only, my guess is links.
Does the file have links to other workbooks? Very often those other workbooks might be missing.
You can break the links on the Edit menu. But before you do, read them, collect the filenames and then go hunting.

Links = references to other documents. There might be a plot or formulas which take values from another workbook, and if these are missing, things fail, though I don't recall the exact message.

One tip I found:
