Side By Side Configuration Problem

When i try to run some programs, such as adobe reader, i get a message saying, "it failed to launch, check side-by-side configurations. Any help would be appreciated.

There are a number of things that can cause this error to appear.

Often it is caused by the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable not being installed. Here is some information from Microsoft.
