Hi
A review of that board can be found at http://www.firingsquad.com/hardware/amd_at..._64_fx_62_5000/ . Probably would not hurt to read it. In choosing a motherboard, you want one which is compatible with socket AM2 (940-pin) processors. Some boards will indicate a combination such as AM/AM2, just stay focused on AM2. There are also motherboard bundles (which often marry a CPU and a motherboard), which you may want to look at, before deciding on separates. http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/ca...herboard-Bundle http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList....amp;Order=PRICE http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/ca...320|&Sort=4 http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/ca...herboard-Bundle Probably the best advice I could give is...do the research before you spend your money. Get components that you know will do what you want done, in the manner that you want it done. I think that you will find that most boards now only have 1 PATA/IDE slot, while having from 2-4 SATA slots. You can still use PATA a PATA hard drive and a PATA optical on that one slot (I have one of my systems set up this way), but you don't have to. And you could always add a controller if you had PATA drives which you wanted to use. This should get you started, others will make inputs as time goes on. Louis |
