Hey guys, I need some serious help here. I have a Dlink dir-625 wireless router, and a modem that only works through a USB internet connection. I read that the router can't accept this USB internet connection; so what I am trying to do is connect the internet to my computer through the USB; then connect the router to the computer through ethernet (and thus sharing the internet connection wirelessly through my house). Well I've gotten pretty far - I have it set up well enough so that if I connect my laptop to the ethernet cord (coming from my computer), it successfully connects to the internet. Now here's my problem.
When I plug the ethernet cord into the wireless router (into the "internet" jack), and try to connect to the internet through my laptop wirelessly, all that it will connect to is a "local" network (it is the correct network, but it won't connect to the internet). I click repair, and it says it can't connect to the DNS host. Same thing happens when I try to connect to the router using another wired ethernet cable. However, the connection works when I don't use the router and connect my laptop directly to the ethernet cord coming from the computer. Help! I need the wireless network to work properly! Thanks guys in advance for all of your help!
All the best,
John Casement
