Does anyone know if you can use PeoplePC to connect to the internet on Ubuntu? If so, how? I put the PeoplePC CD into the CD drive, but am toally lost after that. It's not at all like Windows where your computer tells you exactly what to do to install it.

If PeoplePC won't work with Ubuntu, then what other ISPs will work with Ubuntu and how?

TIA.

P.S. Can anyone also recommend a good primer that will teach me the basics of Linux and Ubuntu?

The Windows PeoplePC software won't run on Linux, much like it wouldn't run on a Mac. They're different operating systems.

I'm not familiar with how dial-up works these days, but I think you can set Ubuntu up to dial your ISPs numbers, and connect that way. However, all DSL and cable ISPs (pretty much) will work with all OSes. You might be able to get more helpful help at www.ubuntuforums.org

I know that PeoplePC don't/didn't work on a Mac. I called and asked when they merged with USA Datanet , they [PeoplePc] said they don't support Unix based OS. That was a year ago or so. I went with NetZero on my Macbook.
