It's name is the current date, so today's is 20080701.plf. Anytime I rebook, the properties says it is created at that time, it over writes itself. But on a new calendar date, a new one is created. No process associated with it and unknown program created it. Because a new one is created each day, my desktop is filling up! I've scanned with 3 different spyware scanners. Also, in "my computer", there are 2 (new to me) ntuser and ntuser.dat files that won't let me delete or open. (being used by other process, it says). Maybe these 2 things are related. Any ideas? Someone recommended a HiJackThis scan and log. I have that log file if it means anything to anyone. I'm fairly literate but the more I learn the less I see I know. Thanks in advance! |

Hello AmyC65 and welcome,
Do you by any chance have InterVideo WinDVD installed on the system? The file that keeps getting created is a playlist file. Files that are in use by another application are needed for that application to run correctly. ntuser is a component of windows and removing this file can cause quite a few problems with windows. If you feel that you might have been infected with malware you can follow the steps here -------------------- Regards

to the best of my knowledge I don't have that installed. I checked my list of programs in "add/remove program" and also did a search for InterDVD?

The two programs to look for are
InterVideo WinDVD Searching for InterDVD shouldn't have returned anything. What malware has been removed from the system? -------------------- Regards
