When I set it away I got the following message: Error; "left" is an unexpected token. The expected token is ""or"" Line 37,Position 58 I went to FileHippo to report this but they don't seem to have a forum. I then downloaded a new version, uninstalled the old one but got the same error message. I can't remember if I have used it since upgrading to Firefox v3 so maybe this has something to do with it. Would appreciate any help / advice offered as I found this a handy little program and would like to continue using it if possibble. Edit: Moved topic from XP to the more appropriate forum. ~ Animal |

Hello bluesjunior,
The error sounds like a scripting error. Try the product in a while to see if they resolve the issue. I have used the program before and it is very useful. however it only compares the products it hosts against your system. This is a problem for example if you use auslogics defrag tool and CCleaner, you will be informed that ccleaner needs updating but the defrag will not be alerted. I would recommend using this tool https://psi.secunia.com/ it has a larger database and has more features. -------------------- Regards

Thanks for the reply nigglesnush85. I also googled the problem after posting here and there are quite a few hits from todays date all having exactly the same problem so I reckon you are correct.
That Secunia program you have linked and recommended is it as easy to use as Update Checker. I am an older guy and not very PC savvy so prefer my programs to be easily operated?. |

I use Secunia and after you run it the first time it just runs in the background and alerts you when necessary. There will be an icon in the system tray.

Also to add, the program performs in a similar way to the update checker and provides download buttons for the out of date software. It is a graet program and much more comprehensive than file hippo's version.
