My Internet connection is behaving strangely: Firefox can connect fine  , but Windows Update, while being able to find that updates exist, cant' download them. Updates from Spybot and Avira can't seem to find their servers. IE does not open any site at all , when trying to connect to a site, it says "Waiting for [site address]. Green bar slowly loads, it then exibits the "Internet Explorer could not open this site\page. Probable causes: You are not connected to the internet, The site is having problems, Maybe you typed the address wrong. (my Windows is localized, I'm not exactly sure how this is said in the English version). I can traceroute to any site, and it finds it fine. I can also open whichever I want on Firefox, as said before  .System is a Windows Vista Basic laptop, with Wi-Fi, but connection used is cable. It has worked before on this setup. Any help  ?(I found this forum to be the nearest to the topic, but if it isn't, my apologies) |

Found what was wrong: IE was set to use a proxy, after disabling that, everything went back to normal.
