BleepingComputer.com: C prompt...

My son decided to load a cd space astronaut moon landing program he found that came with a 2 speed cd rom we bought about 8 years ago.

well, our speed was cut by about 80%..
and on reboot I'm told c:\space\vrsd.386 is having a problem etc etc etc.

I pass by it and the desktop loads and I go about my daily deeds without "any" problems except speed.

I don't know how to find and erase these remnants.
That's my goal.

Can anyone please direct me.

Have you already uninstalled it properly by using 'Add/Remove Programs" in Control Panel? If not, that's your first port of call. If you already did that but bits of it are still on the PC, I suggest you download free 30-day trial of 'RegSupreme' which automatically removes redundant and incorrect entries from the Windows registry. make sure you have uninstalled that game first through Add/Remove, then check C:\Program Files and delete the game folder if still present. Now run 'RegSupreme' using the 'Normal' option. It should find and remove all references to the game. You can get it here:

My very vague 10c:
If your system is win98 you'll need to look at autoexec.bat, config.sys, etc. to see if the game has set some prehistoric parameters in there.
Start>Run>sysedit should show you all the relevant files.

What to look for?
Generally speaking autoexec.bat and config.sys don't need anything in them for win98.
What to look for in the other files (aside from stuff with a similar name to the game) is beyond me.
Any chance of a manual on the game cd that tells you what it modifies?
