Help
So today I was trying to change my resolution on my monitor to (I think) 1600 x 1200. As soon as I changed it, the monitor went completely black, with a grey box in the middle that said something about frequency. I use a Dell Optiplex 740 and Windows Vista Business version, and I have a Daewoo LCD monitor. I can't change the resolution back to its normal self because the screen is completely black. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Hi there,
What is the maximum resolution allowed by your monitor?
Try booting into safe mode (Pressing F8 before the Windows Splash Screen) and changing the resolution from there.

By the way, the grey box says OUT OF FREQUENCY 75KHz 59.9Hz.
I'm not sure what the max resolution is for the monitor.
I went into safe mode and tried to change the resolution, but since safe mode is only allowed to operate in the lowest resolution possible, nothing happened when I tried to change the resolution back.

Do you have dedicated graphics and/or intergrated?
If you have both you could try changing the Video device in BIOS and boot from the one you are not using.

Hmmm, that sounds a bit risky. I think I'll get my dad to look into it, he knows more about computers than I do. Thanks for the help anyway.

Yaay! I fixed it by going into low resolution mode or something like that.

Actually, maybe we can use Device Manager disable the graphic card in safe mode, and then change it back in the normal mode.
