I just picked up a copy of Halo 2 for the PC and its very choppy on my current setup. When I first loaded the game it mentioned needing a 64bit processor or something and that I only had a 32.

I don't know a whole lot about the insides of the comp., but I gather that I need to upgrade the video card for the game to preform better?

Could I get a decent Video Card for ~$100? (I saw a few in Office Max today, but have no clue if they're any good)

Here's some general specs on the computer:
Dell Inspiron 531
Windows Vista 32bit Operating System
AMD 64 Athlon x2 Dual Core Processor 5600+ 2.80GHz
1982 MB RAM
"Windows Media Experience" = 3.0 held back by low score on Gaming Graphics
NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 Display Adapter

Thanks for the help.

I don't know how good, but you could get something that should run Halo 2 fine.

Something like this or this should work fine.

It's strange that Halo 2 will mention a 64-bit OS if you're running 32-bit Vista. Keep in mind that you may need to turn off on-board graphics if you install a graphics card. The multiple graphics cards may confuse the computer.

An 8600Gt isn't that great. For a few dollars more you can get an 8800gs which is much better http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130332 .

Talk to me about the PCIe2.0...How would I check that out? Also, with the power connector, where does that connect to?

PCIE2.0 will work in a regular PCIEx16 slot. It is compatible with your computer. It just works a little bit faster on motherboards that support PCIE2.0.

If your power supply doesn't come with the 6-pin power connector, it has an adapter for it.

Went with the 8800 GS! With the free shipping and rebate, it'll only be about $10 more than the 8600. Thanks, I can't wait to see how much better the game runs!

Completely agree, I purchased a BFG 8800GT 512MB for around £125 ($249.225) after alot of research it appeared to me that this card (8800GT) had the best 'bang for buck'. It out performed the low end series 9 geforce cords too! Can play Crysis, Bioshock, STALKER, Assains's Creed, Call of Duty 4, Dirt all at a very high resolution, with no slow down.

I got the video card and opened up the case today to install the card but I couldn't find anywhere that the 6 pin power connector would go. The cords are only a few inches long, and nothing around the PCI slot looks like they would plug in.

I tried installing it without the power adapter but just got a loud continuous beep noise.
