BleepingComputer.com: Unknown Pop Up Boxes

I have an HP laptop running windows vista. It seems to run fine but lately, upon startup I get two pop up boxes that I have to click on. The first reads: Windows cannot find 'C\program files\java\jre 1.6.0_03\bin jusched.exe'. The second reads Windows cannot find 'C:\program files\windows live\messenger\msnmsgr.exe'. Its more of a headache than anything else having to click on "OK" to continue the startup. I've run avg antivirus and spyware terminator with no problems found. I've also googled both and didn't get any help. I'd appreciate any help.

Have you tried updating Java to ensure no files are missing? same thing with MSN. If you have them set for startup then it will attempt to start the program. But If somthing is missing (for instance you didnt want MSN and deleted it instead of correctly removing it) you would see that error.


Go to Start/Run/ type in ( msconfig ) and go to the start up tab. You may see them listed as start up programs.

Thanks for replying. Both programs are in the startup menu. I have winpatrol so I used it to move both programs to the delayed startup list. That will delay them but after 15 minutes the boxes will probably still pop up. The only help I found when I googled both was that it could be my securty program misreading these as key loggers programs but I don't know how to figure if that is the case.


I don' even have MSN unless it has something to do with my microsoft lifecam.

I bet the MSN does have somthing to do with the lifecam, If you dont want to use MSN then go to your control panel and uninstall it. If you still receive the error in the begining you can do the msconfig on the start up tab and just uncheck it.


I Still want you to check about the Java update. Go to Javas website and esure you are up to date.

Open Windows Defender from the Start Menu
Click on Tools, then on Software Explorer
This will take you to the startup items listing where you can disable these items from starting with Windows

FYI - the jusched.exe is the Java Updater. It's probably not needed as you can update manually if you need to. The msnmsgr.exe is the MSN Messenger applet and if Windows cannot locate it, it's probably not present on the system (so you can safely disable it). If you want MSN Messenger you'll have to go to the MSN website to get it.
