I had noticed a few months ago (but didn't think anything of it...whoops) that my norton AV never finished it's run, it'd get to 100000 files or so and then continue running, but the file counter wouldn't go up and it would never finish. Recently I have been having crashes, so I tried scanning again, both with norton and AVG, and both caused crashes. I then tried to do the same in safe mode. They'd run for a while, then disappear. I had found another post which recommended dr. web and was able to run that in safe mode. However, I'm still having crashes when I run Norton and AVG. Included is my most recent HiJack this Logfile. Guess I should post what Dr. Web found as far as viruses...
Trojan.muldrop.420 trojan.click.1487 There were a couple other trojans that it found on my first partial run, but I didn't save that log |

Hello niustat83,
Welcome to BleepingComputers! Sorry for the delay. Let's first start with that you should only have one antivirus program on your computer. Could you please decide which antivirus program you want and uninstall the other. After you have done that, please post me a new HJT log. |

Thanks for getting back to me, I had download AVG to see if it could get all the way through a run without crashing when Norton couldn't, but they both couldn't. I uninstalled AVG, here's the new log.

Let's try an online scan and see how it works:
Disable your antivirus program and go here and run an online scan with BitDefender (you will need to use Internet Explorer for this scan). When the ActiveX Control has loaded, click on "Click here to scan" and grab a coffee. When BitDefender completes the scan, select the "Detected Problems" tab. Click on "Click here to export scan". Save the file as an HTML to your Desktop. Then click on the saved file and allow it to open with your browser. Go to Edit > Select All then copy the log and paste it back here. |

I had run Trend Micro online scan before, and it crashed, but I decided to try BitDefender. It got all the way through, however, my computer is really screwed up now. I can't open any programs, it says My Documents isn't accessible because the parameter is incorrect. When I got to "All Programs" on my start menu, only about 4 or 5 icons show up instead of the 3 columns I'm used to seeing. Also, Bitdefender wouldn't write to a log. It'd create the file, but there'd be nothing in it.
I wrote down the things it found: 1 - Adware.Trymedia.B.2 - Deleted 2 - Trojan.Exploit.Java.Byteverify.L - Deleted 3 - Trojan.Generic.319530 - Disinfection Failed, Deleted It found virus 1 in documents and settings\.housecall6.6\quarantine\Unipong-dm[1].exe.bac-a03260=>(Quarantine-4) It found virus 2 in documents and settings\application data\sun\java\deployment\cache\jampi\v1.0\jar\OP.jar-55b46c5-35f50ecb.zip=>OP.class and documents and settings\application data\sun\java\deployment\cache\jampi\v1.0\jar\OP.jar-7c9b7b89-595de964.zip=>OP.class It found virus 3 in desktop\downloads\wace211.exe and System Volume Information\_restore{202550A8-7A33-4BCA-9586-051D24DDBF8F}\RP909\A0070453.exe I'm going to try to restart now, and hope everything is ok. |

I'm sorry about the scan. I am not sure what happened.
I would like you to post me another log from HJT. Open HJT, click on Misc. Tools Section and look for the tab that says: Open Uninstall Manager. Save the log and post it back here. Let me ask a question, do you still have your password and ID for your Norton so if you uninstalled it, you could reinstall it? Because I am tempted to ask you to uninstall it and try a different antivirus program that is a free trial to see what happens and if it will complete a scan. Let me know if you are interested in giving this a try. |

Uninstall all of your Norton's listed in Add/Remove programs.
Then, go to this link to download the free trial version (good for 30days). Once you get it installed, try to run it and see if it goes all the way through. Under "Free Downloads: Antivirus and Security Software" Click on the Home User ESET NOD32 Antivirus version 3.0 and download that one: http://www.eset.com/download/ |
