Friendly folks with a common computer bond.
Come hang out with other users and you just might learn something.
Impoliteness, cursing, harrassment and general mayhem will NOT be tolerated.

Now Raw my man I think you're completely missing the point of the chat room..
We have BC forums to discuss computer related stuff.. Chat Room is ment for friends to get together and have fun.. Kapish?
I don't think anybody goes there to start cr*ap.. So your remark about impoliteness, harrasment and cursing is superfluous..

Down in the bayou, Bubba called an attorney and asked, "Is it true they're suin' the cigarette companies for causing people to get cancer?
"Sure is Bubba. But why you asking?"
"Cause what I want to know is, I was thinking, can I sue Budweiser for all them ugly women I've slept with?"

At the same time, while the rules are somewhat more relaxed there than in the forums, members can assume they, or members of their family, can use it without the kind of untoward conversations usually found in public chatrooms.

John

I know what you mean..
I would be probably baned from a chat room..
Now what's the point of going there on first place??
We have General Chat. There too we all can chitchat about everything, and that makes forum even more intersting for old and new members..
Besides... Who in the world would invite his/her teenage kid to the chat room?
Don't missunderstand me.. I'm not out to propagate "strong" language, flaming or anything.. I just thought that Raw's remark was kinda out of place and uninviting..

I have got to stand up for raw here. Notorious, raw is only putting the rules up front and center, where they belong. That way everyone is informed from the get go. Besides he is the one who started this thread to begin with. So well... he kind had the floor.
The main point of his post is to get the word out about Bleeping Computer's chat room. I really do not see any reason for anyone to question his thoughts. But of course this is an open forum. And you, like all of us, are entitled to your opinion.

So basically it lets others know that when they come in they won't be
harrassed or "flamed" and the conversation will be kept clean.
Yes we have a few disruptive people (you know who you are)
and if you need to tell a friend a dirty or strong worded joke, well thats what /msg is for.

I just checked all the links, and they work for me right now.
What operating system are you using (e.g. XP)?
What Browser - IE or Firefox or...?
(This chat link may not be compatible with all desktop clients)
Try this link and scroll down to the second panel then click on
"Start Web Based Chat Program" and see if you can get in that way.

If it still doesn't work you might overview the IRC Help Prelude here >
