If that is the case, then I think I could use the IRC means of connecting to the chatroom once I figure it out. Hmm. Are there specific services that need to be enabled in order for IRC to work?

Orange Blossom,

You could always use an IRC client, which I do not see as an ISP Issue. IRC is on par with any type of IM type service.

Take a look at this tutorial on how to configure one of the easiest IRC clients and you won't need to enable or need to use any java app. How To Use Icechat To Join The Bleepingcomputer Chatroom

Thanks for the link to the IRC tutorial Animal. I'm working my way through it. With luck, by the end of the week I'll surface in the chat room.

If I run into difficulties, I'll let you all know.

By the way, I'm IM illiterate too. I've never used it.

Hello everyone. I am new to Bleeping Computers but think it's a brilliant site and now have just been in the Chat and I am delighted to find a place where I may be lucky enough to get some help in real time.[size=7] I just feel so good that I was able to talk (type) and respond just like that....as you can tell I'm well chuffed smile.gif

Thanks for the Chat Room Bleeping Computer

Regards Mischievous thumbup.gif

Hi guys, the above was written by me when i was a lot happier....I have had lots of problems since yesterday with my computer and have been online to live help then on the telephone with Tech's and now when one problem is sorted, I'm faced with another. I loved this chat room but now can't get into it.

I'd like the web based. I run windows xp but when I sign in I only get a box with lots of little faces and away message/back message box. I feel I should have something else clicked to allow the chat room to fully open. Can you guys help me please.

Just want to say Thank you. I removed that crazy trojan Virus Heat from hubby's computer. Real easy on the instructions. Not sure how it arrived there. He was deleted old emails from his hotmail account. He doesn't download anything. He is unsure of how. So I know he didn't download something.
But I removed the little shield from the bottom and the rest from the tool bar.

Thanks Thanks Thanks. I know where to go to now to find help.

What are you downloading??? blink.gif

There is a link for a java/web based connection at the top of the forum pages. It's on the right side where it says Chat, Blogs, Members, Search, Help and RSS

There shouldn't be anything to download.
