Laptop Keeps Freezing When Connecting To The Internet

I have to connect to my wireless modem first with my laptop, which works alright. But then i have to connect to the internet and type my username and password. The problem is, once ive pressed enter my laptop freezes.
What could be possible causes?
Ill be happy to provide more detailed information if anyone asks!

Usually one doesn't have to use a u/n and p/w just to connect to the Internet. So we must be thinking of different things here. Is it a particular website that you're trying to bring up that requires a u/n and p/w? Can you go to any page like for example, www.cnn.com?

Many ISP's require you to login before you can access the internet via their software that you install via the CD that you recieved from them.

That being said, Have you tried to connect using IE instead? Click on the IE icon...You don't need to login, that way...If you can get on that way then it is probably a problem with the ISP's software...

I can log on either way...Through ISP or IE...
