I cannot access google or yahoo or hotmail. When i go to google.com i see the main page but cannot search anything. when i go to hotmail i can see the first page but entering my email info and pressing enter it doesn't load up it keeps on loading same for yahoo but i cannot access yahoo.com at all.
I cannot also access facebook. I am using internet explorer 7 with 128 bit cipher strength. I also use a router but i don't think that a problem because i access all these websites by using my laptop using the WiFi connection. And i just recently uninstalled Norton anti virus 2004 after i discovered this problem.
I run Windows Xp Media Edition with internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 2.

thx in advance for your help

Try this: in IE go to Tools > Internet Options > Advanced, scroll to the bottom & make sure there is a check mark next to Use SSL3 & Use TLS1. Apply > OK your way out for the changes to take effect.

If you can access Yahoo here: http://209.191.93.52/
Then you have a HOSTS file or DNS problem.

Test SSL connection: Click on the link just to see if you get connected to this site. This is a test to see if you can access the secure SSL sites: http://www.microsoft.com/en/us/default.aspx

If you don't get connected try this first: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic41067.html

If you get connected please post back.

You may try this:

To repair problems with your system:
  • Download Dial-a-fix from djlizard.net
  • Unzip the file and doubleclick Dial-a-fix.exe to start the program.
  • Press double green checkmark - "Check all"- to turn everything on.
  • Press "GO" to start processing all checkmarked items.
  • REBOOT your computer afterwards, important.

Hi there,
I'm currently having the same problems as the original poster. I've followed all the instructions in this topic with no luck
Can anyone help?
I've tried everything in all the previous topics!

Thanks

Do you have Blue Coat K9 protection installed?
A few ppl have disabled theirs and now everything works again, same for me!

Try it!
