BleepingComputer.com: Disable/Enable TeaTimer

Personally I don’t agree with some of the ways that’s been listed for disabling TeaTimer.
So I’m doing something about it.

To Disable TeaTimer

1. Right-Click you TeaTimer Icon in the System Tray. Choose “Run SpyBot-S&D”.

2. In SpyBot Search & Destroy click the Mode menu and choose Advanced.

3. A dialog box will display on the screen read it then click Yes.

4. In the bottom left of the SpyBot-S&D window is 3 Options. Click Tools.

5. Now you will be displaying the Tools options. Click Resident.

6.1. If there is a Check in: Resident “TeaTimer” (Protection of over-all system settings) active. Uncheck it.

To Re-Enable TeaTimer Follow Steps 1-5 above then do the following

6.2. If there is not a Check in: Resident “TeaTimer” (Protection of over-all system settings) active. Check it.

Sure you can put it where ever you want it Just hope People get a use out of it.

I sent Patrick an E-Mail asking i'm still waiting to hear back from him.
i really don't see a problem if you do give him the Credit but i'll let you know soon as i find out.

For those who dont know why you would want to disable Teatimer; teatimer sometimes interferes with resetting IE settings or removing files entries from the registry. By disabling it first, you can then fix these settings, and reenable it.

Just a thought might also be good to add it to the HiJackThis Fourm

I like to keep that purely devoted to hijackthis. I think this is a good palce for this

I'd like to see spybot helpful hints and adaware helpful hints,
things like this here, too

Security software practical suggestions.

Especially the advanced mode spybot features.

Tea Timer is a fundamental feature.
Habit-forming in a good way, too.

If you get used to being alerted when registry key changes are being
"proposed" and always have the option of:
Deny or
Accept ...
it will give any user a moment to consider whether or not the change
will do them any good.

It is nice to know when a program I've downloaded
and just installed will or will not change registry, too.

I like to deny the global startups for some of those programs when all they want to do is automatically check home for new stuff I may or may not want.

I like to see if there was an old setting being changed to a new one or whether
it is simply a new one, too.

All that is possible with TeaTimer.

And it is easy to turn on and off.

Once you see how.

BTW, the context menu option to exit Spybot S&D-Resident, the bottom choice when right-clicking the icon, will also do the trick. Then it'll be active at reboot for you.

From the ones i was reading that wasn't the case which is why i decided to put this together.
People was having problems where they would restart and SpyBot returned all values. (from what i read)
Oh and some people in the HJT Team like to make a simple link than saying Right-Click the Icon in system tray and Exit SpyBot-S&D Resident. =)
