Hello nkfro.
Could you please get us a list of the tasks and services on your computer? That would help determine if a component of the firewall is still running on your computer.
Double click list.bat. You will see a Command Prompt window open and close, then a notepad open with Report.txt. Please copy the contents of it back in your next reply. Two things, you purchased it used, was the operating system and programs already installed? Is this a factory-built i.e. HP, Dell, Gateway? Do you have an XP CD or a set of recovery CD's? I also noticed Bittorent in the log. Not necessarily evil in itself, but it can be a gateway to all sorts of infections. One thing to try is to download the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility Once installed, open it and see if there's anything referring to Comodo, check the box by it and run the utility

why won't my laptop work? Having grandkids is God's way of giving you a 2nd chance because you were too busy working your butt off the 1st time around |

My bad not including more info about the computer itself. This is a Toshiba Tecra 8100 running a 650mhz. P3, 512m ram and a 20gb hard drive. Original OS was Win 2000 Professional. Win XP SP2 was installed prior to my purchase and a WinXP slipstream disc was included but not a factory Win XP CD. Still get 1 hour 15 to 2 hours out of the original battery and the computer is used primarily for assisting guests signing on to our wireless network and personal use.
Bit Torrent is lightly and rarely used but is helpful when needed. Comodo Firewall Pro was installed when I purchased this used computer. I would not have installed it. Downloaded and installed the tool you recommended. Comodo was not on the list. This post has been edited by nkfro: May 14 2008, 05:34 PM |
