This is the main house computer, with email for all ....all use this computer as well as the others. background Have Norton Antivirus, but have not updated definitions as I am frustrated and looking for a better solution. ...If i pay what they want annually, i should NOT have to go through this. Have a Belkin router that provides the firewall....this PC is hardwired. I use Ad Aware and Startup inspector free versions. Wrestled with Live Antispy for a couple of weeks now ....downloaded Malewarebytes Anti malware, and thought that did the trick, but Live Anti spycame back ....over half a dozen attempts. Along the way, something seemed to have disabled Norton ? Then computer became impossibly slow ..... ~30 minutes to boot up ....could not get anything to run ok ..... spoolsv.exe was hogging all resources. Discovered I could temporarily disable that via task manager and run the instructions here. I even tried running Norton and Malewarebytes in Safe Mode Tried a manual removal and regedit to get rid of Live Antispy ...but that did not fix the spoolersv.exe .... so here I am Below is the Hijack this txt files. ( I did run Kaspersky, but it is huge (11 mb) ...I can paste if you really ant me to. (locked up the browser on first try ....had to bleep spooler off in the middle of paste. Hi,
Some notes first... I see you have Viewpoint installed... Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This will change from what we know in 2006 read this article: http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546 I suggest you remove the program now. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present.
That's why I recommend you to uninstall it. QUOTE Also, when done, what antivirus should I use ....while I would rather not pay, I'm ok paying if it works and does not HOGGGG all of my computer speed. Is the paid version of Kaspersky owrth it ....is it that much better than the free versions discussed ? As a matter of fact, it's better to have a working Antivirus already present before we proceed with removal, because currently, nothing is preventing malware - so it may reinstall itself again right after removal. From your log I see your Norton is outdated - so uninstall it, since it doesn't make sense to have it installed if it won't prevent malware anyway. * To fully remove Norton AntiVirus or other Symantec related products, select the product you want to uninstall from this list in order to download the removal tool. Please read the instructions first before you use it. For older versions of Norton (2000, 2001, 2002), choose this link. Also read the next article in case you're having problems with uninstalling Norton if above instructions didn't work, or noticed problems after uninstalling Norton: http://basconotw.mvps.org/SymRem.htm Then, look in my signature below for the Antivirus I recommend. Only install 1 Antivirus! After you installed your Antivirus, perform a full scan with it and let it remove everything it is finding. Then reboot afterwards. After reboot, * Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet. Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log. -------------------- AntispywareScanners---Antivirus Scanners---Firewalls---Online Scanners---Prevention---Help! Ok, I read you later.
Just don't wait too long with this, because as long as your system is infected, it will download more malware all the time. -------------------- AntispywareScanners---Antivirus Scanners---Firewalls---Online Scanners---Prevention---Help! My computer is slow---My Blog.

OK ...followed your plan ....
uninstalled Norton, home key logger and viewpoint. Installed and ran AVG free edition reboot install combo fix download XP recovery console (when I dragged icon on top of combofix ...combofix started. I stopped it at screen requesting agreement ...re-installed it CLOSED all windows and did it again) ran combofix rebooted I noticed that loading programs and desktop was still SLOW (better) ....spoolsv.exe was still hogging near 100% of CPU ....so I shut that process down and everything loads immediately. ran hijack this (I notice spoolersv.exe is again taking near 100%, but things are working so I'm leaving it for now. ...update ...had to close process ....notepad navigation to files was sloooooow) logs are below ....I did not include AVG log file ...ok?
