I have been working on this laptop for a week or so and cannot get a web page to display, I am behind a netgear wireless router, but hardwired LAN connected,,both wireless and LAN connections show me sending and receiving and connected, but no web page will display,,,I can connect through this connection using another computer, so I am pretty sure the problem is with the laptop,, Using Internet Explorer as my default browser,,and I have also installed Mozilla Firefox Browser, same problem with Mozilla,no web page,, Diagnose and repair option shows no problems found with connection, I have ran spybot and AVG antivirus and all spyware and viruses are gone, had a SHeur AYGN trojan but AVG moved it to the vault,,,spybot fixed all problems and I did not have a Browser Hijacker, just basic spyware,,,,,Ran hijackthis also, but did not see anything really bad,,,,Had this problem before I ran spybot and AVG,,,I have ran out of options,, I seem to think this is a setting problem in my laptop,,but don't really know because networking is my weakness,,,I have posted my ipconfig/all log, and can post my hijackthis log if needed,,, any help will be appreciated,,,what can I try next?? Got the web back,,,,Thanks to someone called CIOSUMDAY from another site,,,,,here is his post, maybe it can help someone else.....
Sadly this is a Windows Update caused error. Its update KB947864. Microsoft Help and support has the following pages: 1) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947864 2) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/942818 I uninstalled update KB947864 and the Internet Explorer and Firefox worked like a champ. Its a shame that they cause their own programs to stop working. The second link is a "resolution" they have, however they want the user to contact a third party vendor to solve the issue. I found it much easier to uninstall the update. |
