In the View menu item, click on Explorer Bar, then click to put a check by "Folder" - does that work?

  1. Go To Start
  2. Right-Click on My Computer
  3. Go to Properties
  4. Click on the Advanced
  5. Under the Preformance click on Settings
  6. In the check list in that window scroll down till you see Use Common Tasks in Folder and check it
  7. Click OK
  8. Click Ok on the screen under it as well
Now you should see the sidebar in the windows

No, it's just a way of referring to the pane in Windows Explorer that normally displays the folder tree.
