hi,
QUOTE also what type of virus/malware protection i should use. Maybe you could try to read this one. Simple steps to keep your computer secure! It will greatly help. I also have a Toshiba Satellite. I did not remove those preinstalled software since it doesn't give me any problems. Have a nice day. You can remove whatever you don't need - but be sure of it before you remove it because it's not easy to get it back once it's gone. You'll have to research each item that you want to remove in order to figure this out. Post back with some of the questionable ones and we'll chime in with our recommendations.
FWIW - I've got a new Lenovo tablet that came pre-loaded with the most horrendous mess of stuff that I've ever seen. But, it's a tablet, and a lot of the stuff appears related to it so I hesitate to remove it. But I'm slowly figuring out what I need to keep (I like the fingerprint reader and it's software - so that stays) - and what to remove (the speech recognition is a great tool, but I don't need it to load every time - so that goes). -------------------- - John

I have several Toshiba Satellite VISTA laptops now. I just didn't activate the programs I didn't want to use, and have no problems otherwise.
The pre-installed programs take up very little space on my 250 gig hard drives. I'd tell you to leave them alone. You might want to replace the unit in the near future? And sell the current unit? -------------------- |
