First question would be: does your brother practice witchcraft?! lol Just kidding.
Okay, serious... It is possible that your brother may have installed the Xp on a separate partition of the hard drive, and maybe Vista is still installed on the laptop. |

If there is a recovery partition present, it may be as simple as a key press to restore Vista (backup anything you want to save first!)
Otherwise, you can probably contact the manufacturer of the laptop for a set of restore CD's. In most cases they're under $20 (US) and you'll receive them in a couple of days in the mail. -------------------- - John
