Vista Dvd Question?

I have a Vista Upgrade DVD and I know I can use this to repair/restore vista's default MBR through startup repair. My question is, can I still use this non-SP1 Vista DVD to repair startup issue even if my windows vista computer has been updated to SP1?

Not 100% sure about my awnser, I am sure someone more inteligent will follow me but I am pretty sure yes you can repair but after you repair you must update after.
