That is THE solution. However, there may some difficulty in getting Flash to save the setting properly. You have to keep repeating the same process until the setting change is saved. From what I have read, it may take several attempts. Just be sure you close IE after saving and check the setting when you reopen it.

When I go back to that flash site to see the settings they are set correctly so I'm assuming that they are saved.
I've shut down and restarted my browsers several times but to no avail. hmmmm. This is driving me nuts pafindr |

Regarding Flash, the only thing I can suggest is to uninstall it and then reinstall it. Because you are having the same problem in both IE & Firefox, I still think the issue is something other than Flash because the installation process is different for each browser. It shouldn't affect both browsers. There's something else going on but I can't imagine what that might be.

Okay I just realized something. When Windows starts up you can barely hear the Startup wav. It sounds...umm.... distant and has a lot of static, it's really quiet too.
So I tried going through the "Sounds and Audio Devices" manager in Control Panel and I can't preview any of the sounds there. Can this have something to do with it? pafindr |

I wouldn't know what to look for there. Did you look in the hardware section to see if there was anything odd there. Maybe you need to look at your audio drivers.

Okay, I found the problem.
For some reason my onboard sound card is not playing web sounds or Windows sound files. I have an old computer sitting around so I pulled the Sound Blaster card out and put it in my current computer. Guess what, it's working perfectly now! Thanks Frank for all the time you spent helping me out on this one. I really appreciate the help. pafindr |
