Wait, what?

I thought it does handle Blu-ray Discs.

From the contest site on bleepingcomputers.com:
Primary CD/DVD Drive: Blu-Ray ROM with SuperMulti DVD+/-R/RW Double Layer

Unless you meant something else, John?

I hope you are right.

I got the info from the HP Dragon HDX Data Sheet.

It says, way down on the bottom in the "fine print" -

Quote

(s2) Blu-ray Discs cannot be played on this Notebook PC.

Maybe there's a slight Model difference and this one includes a Blu-ray capable DVD ROM drive?

I know you think you understand what you thought I said,
but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant!

I found the Arstechnica contest link! :D
Here
Someone might want to edit the link on the first post.

Another edit: AbsoluteVista states you can join all of the contests! I already entered in theirs, but arstechnica's... I might wanna skip ;D

"If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way." - Bertrand Russell

While no computer is perfect, this is quite a powerful "Notebook" - it's more of an "attache case".

To carry around a 20" screen, regardless of the weight, is sweet, that's for sure.

Obviously you've never had the "joy" of using a an IBM "Toughbook" (lol) a 14" screen in a case the size of an actual attache case (litterally some are made out of pistol attache safes) and weighing in from 5-15 lbs. Gives new meaning to cumbersome.

I'm game, I need a new lappy.

That's good to hear.

The spec sheet I found and linked to clearly said it does not.

I guess they changed out to a Blu-ray drive sometime after the specs were printed.

I seriously, don't get what is happening. When does the competition "officially" start?

Each day a new one starts. Like so far, AbosluteVista, Arstechnica, and OSNN.net have theirs started. I already finished AV's and have 1 more to go for OSNN.

huh, this is quite interesting. I suppose everyone's drooling over the thing now. :

Is there something we'll have to fill out, or is it going to be out of all the site's members?

Also, should you make like a 50 post minimum? I think that would be good, and possibly keep down the influx of 1 post members trying for the labtop.

The rules will be announced in a week or so. Nothing in stone yet.

I'm quite excited about all these contests.
So far, AbsoluteVista wanted a story, Arstechnica wanted homemade dedications, and OSNN had a few questions. I've already sent my story to AbsoluteVista, and I'm done with OSNN. Can't wait for everything else, especially the one here!

Looks like I can't enter the Ars Technica comp

I don't know how to do any of those besides "The Sims"

Epic XDDDD
My friends say that it's a scam too. Wait til I get one of those and bring it to school. The draconic masterpiece will scare them!
And I have the Arstechnica link above, don't think I'll enter though. Too hard.
Anyone entering the AbsoluteVista and OSNN one? Those one easy.

I went for the Absolute Vista one, but the OSNN one wants a ton of forum participation, which I've had enough of lately....

I'm looking forward to the rest of them...
