I am in the process of trying to write a macro that includes inserting pictures on the spreadsheet in a specific place with a specific size depending upon specific things happening. I tried recording a macro in Excel 2007 to start the ball rolling, but it won't record anything to do with the pictures. I went back to Excel 2003 and did it successfully, and then copied the macro over to 2007 and it ran fine. What the heck? Does anybody know if this is an inherent problem with Excel 2007? What's going on?

Thank you

I'm trying to help a friend develop an estimating program for his business. He only has Excel 2007. The area of concern is that Excel 2007 seems to have a problem with macros. There is no problem in this area with Excel 2003, but Excel 2007 will not record actions involving insertion of pictures and graphs and maybe other things. It does record the insertion of objects (at least a bitmap) without a problem. Have you experienced any problems in this area? If so, have you been able to resolve them? If you have, will you share the solutions?

Thank you

Oh man that's horrible. It looks like if you insert a picture or a graph it just plain doesn't record it into the macro!! If you manually type (or copy/paste) the code then it works how it should.

I'm normally a defender of Microsoft's newest editions but there is simply no excuse for this. They took away features that worked perfectly fine in the old version. The worst part is, the bottom 90% of users won't know this; it's only the power users who are being crippled for no apparent reason. Why, Microsoft? Why?

Uggggggggh after I take a couple quick breaths I'll do some searches and see if I can find a fix that doesn't involve uninstalling 2007...

Well jazzman, you're right. Microsoft screwed this up big time. If you do a Google on "Excel 2007 Problems" you will see a lot more than what I brought up. The only solution for me on this is to use Excel 2003, make all the macros I need, and then copy them over into Excel 2007. A problem with this is that some of them may not work because of more changes in 2007 that I don't know about. Oh well, live and learn.
