I won a bid on ebay and won 2 x 1 GB PC 3200 400 MHz, I asked the seller what density he informed me it is low, I know my PC can take PC2100 PC2700 AND PC3200. I have purchased in the past PC2700 1 gb which worked fine. Anyway I have tried the PC3200 Samsung 809 K4H510838C 1 X 2 gb in my pc and they do not work my computer just will not run windows, so I took them out and put the originals back in. What I need to know is if I have made a mistake my motherboard is foxconn 661FX7MI which I checked before i got the new ram, or is the RAM I won damaged how or what can I do to find out. I am not very good with pc and this might sound daft what does that mean, when I was checking it never mentioned ecc, just unbuffered what ever that is.

Do you have the manual for that board? If so, check the CL listed for memory...or go into the BIOS and check it there.
I believe that memory should run at 2.5, http://www.digchips.com/datasheets/parts/d...10838C-KCB0.php If your board is set to run at 2.5...I think the RAM should work. Whether it's high-density or low-density should make no difference, IMO, as long as you are using both modules and the CL is matched with the motherboard/BIOS. From Wiki: "Thus CAS Latency (CL) is the time (in number of clock cycles) that elapses between the memory controller telling the memory module to access a particular column in the current row, and the data from that column being read from the module's output pins." I suggest that you wait for opinions from those who are more familiar with these things than I am. Louis |

I also saw a number of references to ECC memory, it's hard to tell just what you have without seeing it or documentation.

That motherboard has two expansion slot with a capacity of 1GB per slot.
