I'm no expert but I would guess if Microsoft lets us keep XP,then Computers will be sold with the OS System,of your choice. clapping.gif

For some reason one of the representatives of Microsoft says that the majority of users and companies wanna throw XP out the other day. I laughed for 15 minutes.

Platform: Windows XP SP3 (WinNT 5.01.2600)

this is the new OS they should release on CD for clean installs or repair disks

they should discount it to people who already have a legal copy of xp sp1

when shell mvp's start reccomending a full image backup before applying sp3 makes me wonder

Microsoft will cave in. Bullmer says you want XP we'll keep XP. Good News.

http://www.news.com/8301-10784_3-9927721-7.html

Let's hope that is the case and the petitions are being signed because as of the printing of this article Thursday he is saying no go on keeping it.

QUOTE
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer said the company could re-evaluate its plans to phase out Windows XP by June 30, if customers demand that it stick around. So far, they have not.

"XP will hit an end-of-life. We have announced one. If customer feedback varies, we can always wake up smarter, but right now, we have a plan for end-of-life for new XP shipments," Ballmer said during a Thursday news conference in Belgium, according to Reuters.

Yes the quote I was referring to, thanks thewall smile.gif
And so far no one wants it? Where in the world has he been?
Isn't SP3 still in development? Or is it done in beta?

I'm still hearing of people having boot problems. And I absolutely don't wanna suffer that problem considering how much weird problems I'm having already. They should have some kind of changelog to outline the many fixes, even though there are 1000 some...

Yeah I've heard of people having boot problems with SP3 too. I mean; I already have a hard enough time booting properly with the issues I'm having. I don't think I'd be able to boot at all with SP3 crazy.gif

I'm hoping that HP won't pull all their remaining XP stuff off... because I really want this labtop, even though its probably a tad underpowered now for the price, its still got XP and its pretty good none the less.

Its almost all a matter of if you've got the money now or not to get a computer to last until the next decent release of a windows OS.... or just build your own and get linux or self install XP.

Microsoft Corp. CEO Steve Ballmer offered a glimmer of hope on Thursday to fans of the company's Windows XP operating system, saying the company may reconsider its decision to stop selling it soon.
