Hello!

After updates, sometimes weird things happen (I agree), please go to Control Panel and Devices&Drivers and see if the Sound Card is still installed properly (no yellow exclamation point next to it).

Then try right clicking on your sound device in the list and selecting properties to see if it says the "Device is Functioning Properly"

Also, from the control panel, click on 'hardware and sound', then click 'manage audio devices'. See if the correct device is checked.
