Hi, I have a laptop it is running windows vista and for the last 2 days when I boot up I have this window that pops up telling me to go to "program options page and update a definition file. What is a definition file and where is the program options page? I have went to the help and support on my computer but it does not give me anything in particular of where to get this updated file.
Can someone please tell me where to go to get this done?
Thanks,

Can you post a screenshot of the error?

What is the exact text of the error?

What is in the title bar of the error dialog box?

What buttons are available on the dialog box of the error?

Can you post a screenshot of the error?

Could not do a screenshot so I wrote down every word "Could not locate a valid definition file. Please go to the Program Options Page and click "Update Definitions" to download a definition file.

What is in the title bar of the error dialog box?

''Error''-is in the title bar-this is why I do not know where to look.

What buttons are available on the dialog box of the error?

Only "ok" is available.

tks for answering so quickly.

A definition file is usually for an antivirus or antispyware program. It contains the "definitions" of all the malware that the program looks for.

So, I'd suggest checking your antivirus/antispyware programs to see which one isn't updating - and that should be the one that's causing an issue. Uninstall it, and reinstall a freshly downloaded copy to get it working again.
