My current msn messenger (not live) is version 4.7. It came with my laptop over a year ago when I bought it brand new. I've finally decided to upgrade to the latest version, but it won't install. I downloaded the wondows live messenger client off msn and select messenger. It then says it's searching for other live products, then several minutes later says it can't install. What do I do? Thank you.

I have xp sp2 and meet all the system requirements.
When I'm asking for help, please explain, in detail, every step. Thank you :).
I have nightmares about computer glitches and bugs.

Hi solaris32,

First try a different location, the download is in the upper right:

It's the exact same one you get off msn's website . I know cause I too tried it.

EDIT: Downloading isn't the problem, it's installing after I've downloaded it.

EDIT 2: I'm gonna try downloading the most recent msn messenger before live, see if I can install that. Then try the most recent live messenger.

Just learned the problem. I have "windows messenger" and not "msn messenger". Apparently you needed msn messenger to install live. Thank you Crizz for if you hadn't of shown filehippo again, I wouldn't of gotten the idea to download an earlier version. When I downloaded msn messenger and tried to sign in, it said I needed to update and that's how I got it.
