I'm wondering if any of you can suggest some free, possibly portable software that I can use to attach to a process and monitor any file changes, movements, registry additions/deletions etc.?

Process Monitor (free here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinte...s/bb896645.aspx )
It will monitor everything and will generate a huge log file. I accidentally left it running overnight and it filled my hard drive to the point where I couldn't do anything - USE WITH CAUTION!!!
