This is just for your information:

After upgrading to Vista SP1, every time I open up Outlook 2007, I get a Blue Screen of Death.

0x0000008E (0xC0000005, ....) referencing the file tcpip.sys. The numbers in brackets after the .... vary. It only happens when opening up Outlook. I have not tried Windows Mail.

Apparently, someone here has the exact same problem:

The workaround is to Go to Safe Mode with Networking support and open up Outlook to read your emails. In this mode, the Blue screen does not occur.

I updated to SP1 using Windows Update.

If anyone else has this problem, please report here.

Microsoft is offering free unlimited support (email, chat, phone) for any issues with Windows Vista SP1

UPDATE!

Microsoft has just released a patch that will fix the problem. Note, that this patch is NOT OFFERED through Windows Update, even if you opt to offer recommended (non-critical) updates. You have to download manually and then run the patch.

The fix can be found here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en

and here's the Knowledge Base article:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=952709

I reported this issue with MS Tech Support and it went to a high level. 2 Thumbs up for MS in getting this fixed.

I am having the same issue. I downloaded the 64-bit version of the update. It would not install, told me that it did not apply to my system. I am running Visat Home Premium w/SP1, 64-bit. Any more information or ideas woujld be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Double check that you have a 64 bit OS. You can run a 32 bit OS on 64 bit hardware. To check, go to Start...Control Panel (Classic View)...System. In the System section under System Type it'll list either 32 or 64 bit. Also, make sure that it shows that you have Service Pack 1 installed.

In the event that you meet these criteria and it still doesn't install - it's most likely that your system doesn't meed the criteria for this particular fix. I'd suggest reading the "More information...." section to see if you have any of the situations that are described there.
