Is this media that you have used in this drive before?

How old is the DVD Drive? I have a problem like this where you need to keep re-inserting the DVD until it starts to read it. Like you, only happens with DVDs.
Try this: keep re-inserting the DVD and wait to see if it loads. After 10 unsuccessful tries, just leave it and tell us.
Report back and tell us how it goes
Regards,
David.

Some things you can try:
- If you recently installed some burning software, uninstall it.
- Clean the laser using one of those drive cleaning kits.
- Open the Device Manager (Start > Run > type "devmgmt.msc"). Locate the CD/DVD drive, right click on it and select "Uninstall". After it has uninstalled reboot the computer (it will be automatically reinstalled).
