Try booting into target mode on the bad iMac. Plug it into the good one and reboot while holding the option key. If the bad iMac shows up as a bootable firewire drive, try booting off it. -------------------- ![]() |

UPDATE.....
With firewire connecting good and bad iMacs, have successfully used bad iMac's drive to launch good iMac. Updated all software. Bad iMac still would not boot. Bad iMac also would not boot good iMac's drive with it in target mode. So: bad iMac will not boot any connected device past spinner, and Command-Option-O-F key command does not work. ....what's left to try? |

Im almost positive that theres some bad hardware in that mac. I dont see how it could be software related, cos you can boot off the drive.
Theres 2 things I can think of. One is to try and boot into the Hardware Test disc. This is probably your first install disc. Insert the disc and hold "D" as you boot up. The only other thing I can think of is to boot into target mode on the bad mac, back up anything you want to save, and try an erase and install via the good mac. -------------------- ![]() |
