I contacted HP and I now have XP working!! thumbup.gif

hey guys smile.gif...so Yes I am on xp now almmost everything works....i can't get my media buttons to work(driver is installed I think) i get the mute working volume +- /none of the pause play etc are working thou/and the dvd and quick launch are of as well sad.gif any help ??sad.gif and the fingerprint too sad.gifsad.gifsad.gif but I thought that....um.... i have the drivers so maybe initially i had these PLUS the soft?? and now i don't have the soft only what do you think?? cause the finger print did [i dunno the name but..who knows maybe you guys know..since you always have an answer for everything :]) just wondering if quicklaunch buttons had a soft......oh yeah they DID!!!...I remember this annoying one when i pressed the dvd button[and i actually dont think i did but it launched the soft anyways] so can you help me out with these 2 softs?

As I recall, there's some software associated with the buttons. Try searching for the XP version of the software on the HP website.

Here's a link to the list of over 300 Pavilion DV6700 models: http://h20180.www2.hp.com/apps/Lookup?subm...0&h_lang=en

Once you locate yours, click on the Vista link to see what software it had installed.
Then use the browser to go back one page and select the XP link.
If the equivalent software isn't there, then there's several options to try.

One is to search the HP site for the name of the software to see if you can locate an XP version
Another is to search Google for the software company to see if there's an XP version.
As a last resort, try installing the Vista version of the software. Depending on how it was written, it may work (but no guarantee's here!)
